The Election Commission of India had announced the schedule for the Assembly elections in the state of Bihar on September 25th. The term of ongoing Legislative Assembly of Bihar is going to expire on November 29th. Hence it was necessitated to commence the process of election before that date. Total Assembly Constituencies:- State Total number of Assembly Constituencies Reserved for Scheduled Caste Reserved for Scheduled Tribe Bihar 243 38 2 The Schedule:- Elections will be held in total 3 phases. Total 71 Assembly seats will go for poll in 1st phase on 28th of October. In second phase total 94 Assembly seats will go for poll on 3rd November and the last phase of polling is scheduled on 7th November and total 78 seats will go for poll in this phase. Jharkhand assembly election result is yet another set back for BJP after Maharashtra and Haryana. In Haryana, BJP some how managed to form the government with the support of Jannayak Janta Party. But in Maharashtra it failed to form the government despite being single largest party and in Jharkhand it even failed to become the single largest party. In 2014 assembly elections, BJP became the single largest party after winning 37 seats and formed government with the support of All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU). However BJP and AJSU fought elections separately this time after AJSU demanded 18 seats and BJP denied. Last time Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress faught elections separately but this time they formed alliance and RJD was also accommodated in alliance. JMM contested on 42 seats followed by Congress on 32 and RJD on 7. JMM became single largest party after winning 30 seats. BJP contested on 79 seats and managed to win 25. The 5 phase Jharkhand Assembly Elections concluded today. The counting process will take place on Monday, December 23 . The voting for the first phase took place on November 30 and went on from December 7(2nd Phase) to December 12 (3rd Phase) to December 16 (4th Phase) and 5th phase concluded today.
